Take the First Step to a Healthier, Happier You with an Exercise Physiologist
Taking control of your health can be challenging—especially if you’ve never exercised, haven’t been able to for a long time, or feel overwhelmed due to injury, pain, or a new medical diagnosis. That’s exactly where an Exercise Physiologist (EP) can help.
EPs are university-qualified health professionals who specialise in designing safe, effective exercise programs for everyone—including those who are:
- New to exercise or unsure where to start
- Managing a chronic health condition or injury
- Struggling with motivation or accountability
- Wanting to stay independent, socially active, and maintain overall wellbeing
- Here’s what the journey looks like when you work with our EPs.
Step 0: Discussions
Before you step into a clinic, begin with simple conversations:
Talk to family and friends: Ask what they do for exercise or how they got started. You might be surprised how many people began right where you are.
Chat to your GP: Discuss how exercise could support your health goals. Your GP might even refer you to an Exercise Physiologist under a chronic disease management plan.
Reflect on your own goals: Are you seeking more energy, less pain, better mobility, or improved mood?
Starting to think and talk about exercise helps shift your mindset—and opens the door to real, positive change.
Step 1: Reaching Out
Once you feel ready, you can reach out over phone, email or even book online (provide link). You do not need a referral from your GP to get started with us. However, you may be eligible for subsidies with specific referrals.
Step 2: One-on-One Assessment
In your first session, your EP will take a thorough look at your:
- Medical history – to ensure your safe to begin exercise
- Movement patterns and strength – to identify any potential issues
- Current fitness level – to create a baseline and monitor progress
- Health goals – to tailor a program that’s important for your life!
- Recommend the optimal exercise program for you
Step 3: Personalised Recommendations & Lifestyle Advice
Your EP will guide you with a plan that includes:
- Gentle, progressive exercise tailored to your ability
- Movement habits that fit into daily life
- Lifestyle and recovery tips to support your journey
- It’s all about making movement feel achievable—and sustainable. We will also make recommendations for the most effective treatment plan moving forward. This may include 1:1 gym-based sessions (personal training), group exercise classes or scheduled reviews for home/gym programs.
- We factor in your history with exercise, strength levels, level of support needed and goals to ensure we create the best plan moving forward.
Step 4A:
Progressing to Personal Training/1 on 1 sessions
Research proves expert guidance early on greatly improves long-term success. That’s why we recommend starting with one-on-one sessions to build confidence and lasting habits.
Top benefits include:
- Safe, supervised exercise tailored to your health needs
- Progress tracking with adjustments to match your goals
- Motivation and accountability to stay consistent and on track
- These sessions help you build momentum and confidence with expert guidance every step of the way.
Step 4B:
Joining Group Classes
- We encourage clients to progress into our small, tailored exercise groups—where you’ll connect with others who’ve faced similar challenges and made real progress. Plus, it’s a more affordable way to maintain your fitness long term.
- A friendly, motivating, social environment
- A safe space that supports steady progress over time
- A sense of routine and accountability
- All classes are led by your EP, ensuring continued safety and progress.
Step 4C: Regular Reviews & Progress Tracking
We’ll touch base at key points to:
- Track improvements and revisit goals
- Reassess strength and mobility
- Adjust your plan as your health evolves
- No matter your lifestyle or schedule, we’ll help you find a way to stay on track and keep progressing. Ongoing support is key to maintaining momentum.
Step 5: Gym Membership
We reserve our gym memberships for clients who have gained our trust to exercise safely and need less guidance in the short term. When you’re ready, consider a clinic membership to support long-term success. Memberships include:
- Enjoy access to our fully equipped gym with everything you need to support your program
- Heavily discounted membership cost
- Access to EP’s for program adjustments.
- It’s an affordable, flexible way to keep health a priority.
