Stephen, an Exercise Physiologist at myPhysioSA, talks about the fatness v fitness debate
Being fitter is the way to be healthier, regardless of what you weigh.
Everyone can be much healthier if they exercise, whether you are slim or overweight. There are many overweight people that are healthier than their slimmer counterparts.
Stephen explains why this is the case and will motivate you to get back to being active again.
You are 30-50% less likely to have a health concern if you do regular physical activity or exercise then if you are sedentary, no matter what your weight or BMI is. It dramatically reduces your risk of getting a chronic condition or disease.
Physical activity can be; walking, sport, doing dancing, gym, classes, yoga etc.
The take home message is to be not too caught up with the scales. You don’t have to be slim to still be healthier!
