A demonstration of how to correctly fit an ankle brace by Tom Peters
Tom, a myPhysioSA Associate Physiotherapist at the North Adelaide clinic, demonstrates how to properly fit an ankle brace ready for sport. He explains how to size the brace correctly, how to ensure the laces are tight enough, and how snug the brace should fit around the heel. Then Tom gives tips on when to re-tighten the brace to ensure its firm and properly supporting your ankle.
Ankle braces are a great substitute for using ankle taping. They are quick and easy to put on yourself, dont cause any skin irritation, can be re-tightened at any stage and are cost effective as you can get years of use out of a good quality ankle brace.
At myPhysioSA clinics we sell an American made ankle brace called the EVO by ASO. It is light weight, easy to fit and very durable. It has two figure 6 straps that are applied tight once the laces are done up, which gives great side to side support.
